Like the ocean it whispers
Blowing both salty and sweet into your imagination
Grabbing at your joys and hates
Flinging you over a ravine of fantasy
It will entrance your thoughts
And ensnare your emotions
Twisting and warping like the tides
That come and go.

Like a cloud it floats
In a permanent high
Forever stuck inside your dreams
Tossing you far away
Over the depths of the sea
So far above that
Each human becomes
A little speck.

Like the heart it beats
Pulsing gently against your skin
Stopping only when it’s dead
Infinitely warming you inside
It will slide away if you’re not careful
Always awaiting an answer
To its silent plea to
Be part of your body.

Like my thoughts it sways
Dancing slowly around
A grungy sketch of a smile
Twirling in front of the headlights
Testing the limits
Waiting for the perfect moment
To jump and fall like lead
What am I?
